The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday granted exemption to B S Yeddyurappa from personally appearing before the Special Lokayukta for the next hearing in connection with a denotification case.
Hearing a petition filed by the former chief minister seeking quashing of a private complaint against him related to denotification of 69 acres of forest land at Hunasikatte village in Shimoga district, Justice Nagmohan Das granted him the exemption.
Following a private complaint, the special court had summoned Yeddyurappa and his son B Y Raghavendra, MP from Shimoga. The complainant, Vinod Kumar, an advocate from Shimoga, had alleged that Yeddyurappa had abused his office and denotified 69 acres in Bhadravati in 2010 to help Davalagiri Properties owned by his relatives.
