Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s sons were granted exemption from appearing before a Lokayukta Court by the Karnataka High Court on Monday, in connection with an illegal land denotification case.

The trial before the Lokayukta Court is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 25.
B Y Raghavendra and B Y Vijendra procured the order during the hearing of a petition filed by their father, which sought quashing private complaints against all of them in the illegal land denotification case.

Justice Nagmohan Das granted Raghavendra and Vijendra exemption from appearing personally in the trial and adjourned the main question - of quashing the private complaints - for further hearing.

In one complaint, it is alleged that Yeddyurappa illegally denotified a Bangalore Development Authority property, granted a mining lease and allotted discretionary category sites to his son Raghavendra and MLC Bharati Shetty.

In the other complaint, the Lokayukta court initiated proceedings against Yeddyurappa’s family members and associates for allegedly receiving Rs 8 crore for illegally allotting land.
