Three persons died as a car fell into Shimsha river close to Somanahalli village near the town, early in the morning on Sunday.

The victims, who were all from Bangalore, were identified as Anurag (30) of Govindaraj Nagar, Dayanand Somashekhar (32) of Basaveshwarnagar and Suhas (29) of Rajajinagar.

The victims, who were friends, had gone to Mysore on Saturday. They had left for Bangalore at 5 am. They lost control of the car at the curve of the bridge over Shimsha river, rammed the parapet of the bridge and fell 70 feet down into the river, breaking the parapet.

The three died on the spot due to the intensity of the fall. While the police, along with the Fire personnel, lifted the bodies up after an hour-long operation, the car was lifted by a crane.
