A Tata Indica car went up in flames on Tuesday morning in the city. However, the passengers escaped unhurt.
According to the police, the car belongs to Bhandari, a local resident. The cause of the fire is said to be a short circuit in the engine, said a Fire and Emergency Services department staffer.
On Tuesday morning, five people set out in the car to shop for a wedding. Noticing smoke suddenly emanating from the engine, they stopped the car on the roadside and alighted immediately. Soon, flames engulfed the vehicle, the police said. The fire services team rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
