They literally set the ramp alight, sashaying in their flowing, faultless black and white gowns, adding that dash of pertness to the pret-a-porter display, with colourful bouquets on their heads aglow with LED lights.

True, as musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart put it “neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius,” Mount Carmel College girls truly proved that their love of fashion that did the trick.
It’s no wonder then couture magician Paresh Lamba known for his signature collections, celluloid divas Radhika Pandit and Kriti Kharbanda, actor Raghu Mukherjee and model Carun Carumbiah were unanimous in their choice for the coveted crown.
Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology team yet again had to settle for second, the third place going to Army Institute of Fashion Technology. Garden City College and Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering, the consolation trophies. That the City’s modelling scene is firmly perched in its upcoming aspiring young men and women, Shan, of Oxford College of Science and MCC’s Chetana, were adjudged the Best Male and Best Female models, respectively, receiving special awards.
The grand finale saw two rounds – creative and brand round with eight colleges vying for honours. These eight were picked from around 50 colleges after two preliminary rounds. Taken in by the creative zest of students, the judges too hit the catwalk adding to the glamour quotient.
The brand round saw students modelling the Reliance Trends collection, showcasing a variety of occidental and oriental sartorial. Indeed, as the curtains were called on the seventh edition of Deccan Herald’s fashion calendar call for college students, it was literally Saturday Night Fever at Dayanand Sagar College, where fashion, music, dance melded in a symphonic celebration of all things bold and beautiful and audience soaked in the fashion fiesta that unfolded before them.
Truly it was an enchanting evening a mesmerised college students, participants and cheerleaders, will not forget in a long time to come. Viva La Fashion!
