The Belthangady police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade and his advocate Ratnakara Bunnu on charges of purchasing land under Shanthivana Trust of Dharmasthala for expanding the Samaja Mandira building in Belthangady.

According to the FIR, Heggade had taken up the responsibility of renovating the Samaja Mandira in Belthangady in 1989 and it was decided to purchase 20 cents of land adjacent to the Mandira, in the name of Samaja Mandira Trust.

However, the complainant, Ranjan Rao Yerdur of Nagarika Seva Trust, stated in his complaint that Heggade misused his power and bought the land in the name of Shanthivana Trust on August 24, 1989, and constructed a building.

Yerdur has also submitted documents pertaining to the case. After verifying the documents in the departments concerned, FIR has been registered against Heggade.
