The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee on Thursday said rainfall in the Cauvery basin area is above normal and there is no distress situation in the basin area.

The committee, in its second meeting held under the chairmanship of Navin Kumar, also noted that inter-state water flow monitoring point at Biligundlu witnessed more than the actual requirement of water flowing from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu.

Emerging out of the meeting, Kumar told reporters that with above normal monsoon in Cauvery basin area, all the reservoirs are getting very good inflow. Field officers have reported that there is no distress in any part of the basin area, he said.
