The CBI team, which is probing the mysterious death of  Karnataka cadre IAS officer Anurag Tiwari, who was found dead on the road in the state capital last month, is trying to trace the person who had first seen the officer's body and reported it to the police.

The premier investigating agency is also planning to quiz senior UP IAS officer and vice-chairman of the Lucknow Development Authority Prabhu Narain Singh, who was in the same room where Tiwari was staying. Singh was quizzed by the police earlier also.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which earlier investigated the matter, failed to trace the person who first reported to the police about the body lying on the road near the guest house. According to sources here, CBI sleuths on Friday quizzed street vendors and shopkeepers on the Meerabai Marg, where the guest house is  located.

Sources said the CBI team was trying to locate someone who might have seen Tiwari before his mysterious death.
