The president of Chikkaballapur District Congress Committee has accused former Union Minister M Veerappa Moily of causing a huge loss to the exchequer by entering into a pact with Reliance Industries Limited.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, M Anjanappa, the DCC president, claimed that he had got definite information about the pact from a senior journalist in New Delhi and he would make the relevant documents public, soon.

Seeking a CBI probe into his allegation, Anjanappa said that he would approach court seeking action against the guilty.

He said that Jaipal Reddy, who earlier held the Petroleum portfolio had not yielded to pressure from anyone whereas Moily came under the influence of Reliance as soon as he became the Petroleum minister.

‘Reliance influence’

“Moily would not have got ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections but for the intervention of Anil Ambani of Reliance Industries. He was refused ticket since he did not pay the money received from Reliance to Sonia Gandhi and Congress leader Ahmed Patel,” Anjanappa alleged.

Anjanappa, who resigned as the DCC president, claimed that he had been offered membership by several political parties and he would take a decision after consulting his supporters.

He said he would soon hold a convention of his supporters to decide his future course of action.
