CBI Joint Director Lakshminarayana received Singh at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Speaking to reporters, Singh said there was no specific purpose for his visit and it was a routine affair.
However, Singh - a 1976-batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre - met the investigating officers at the Dilkusha guest house and elicited information about the three most sensitive cases the CBI is tackling in South India these days.
Singh has held several important positions in the CBI between 1990 and 2000, including the post of Additional Director in CBI.
He was looking after Economic Offences and Bank Securities and Frauds Divisions prior to taking over as Special Director. Singh is well versed with different aspects of the State.
He has held various positions in Andhra Pradesh, including Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad. He has also served as Additional Secretary in the Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi.
Meanwhile, the continuing strike by Telangana lawyers forced yet another adjournment of the hearing of the bail petitions of Janardhana Reddy and Srinivas Reddy.

The Special Court adjourned the hearing of their bail pleas to September 29. The counsel for the accused did not turn up in the court due to the strike in the Nampally courts.
The CBI filed a reply opposing the bail pleas on the grounds that the accused may try to tamper evidence if granted bail. The CBI has already filed a petition for nine-day custody of the accused.
The court would take up hearing of the custody plea on Friday. Janardhana Reddy’s counsels could not move the counter petition against the CBI’s petition due to the strike on Wednesday.
The court had, on September 19, extended the judicial custody of the accused till October 3.
The same day, the CBI moved a petition seeking their custody for nine days.
The CBI had earlier questioned them for six days.
