The State government has decided to set up a Heritage Planning Cell to protect heritage structures and sites.
Minister for Urban Development S Suresh Kumar on Wednesday said that as per government order, an executive committee, chaired by administrative director of Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation has been set up.
Six cities and towns that include Mysore, Srirangapatna, Belur, Bijapur, Gulbarga and Badami have been identified as heritage places, he said.
The Cell will have to prepare a project detailing the significance of the heritage structures.
