Central funds for rural roads in K'taka

The Union government has sanctioned Rs 1,299 crore to Karnataka under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to build rural roads.

Under the first phase of the programme, 92 km of road will be built at a cost of Rs 82 crore and in phase two, 2,550 k m of road will be laid spending Rs 1,217 crore.

Informing the Centre’s decision on approving funds to Karnataka, Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, in his letter to Karnataka Chief MInister Siddaramaiah, has requested the later to expedite construction of roads.
