Speaking at the inauguration of Mylarilingeshwara temple in the taluk he said both poet Kanakadasa and social reformer Basaveshwara fought against superstitious and blind beliefs to bring about equality in the society.
States apathetic
The Union Minister came down heavily on the state governments across the country for neglecting implementation of the Centre’s labour welfare schemes.
Kharge, at Haveri, said the State governments were apathetic to the issues of labourers espcially in the unorganised sector whose number is over 43,000.
The sum of Rs 1,700 crore has been released by the Centre under the Employees’ State Insurance scheme and it would be utilised for construction, modernisation and upgradation of ESI hospitals in Dharwad, Davangere, Belgaum, Yadgir, Gulbarga, Mangalore, Bangalore and other districts, he added.
