After a survey of the areas coming under the proposed project on Monday, he said the proposed railway line passes through one of the highly sensitive bio-diversity hotspots in the Western Ghats.
The State Government and the Railways will have to put up a strong case backed by documents to secure the clearance. He suggested the Railways and the State government to furnish all details of the project, including the economic feasibility and freight traffic expectations to the Union Ministry of Environment & Forest and the Central Empowered Committee.
