Mysuru: Even as the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited, Mysore, (CESC) purchases over 2000 MW power per year, it will reduce by 500 MW by next one year.
CESC MD G Sheela informed that, the project of Feeder level solarisation of 110 stations to generate 500 MW solar power under PM KUSUM C has taken pace from October 2024.
As they need 4 acres for each station, Congress State Government has given 1000 acre Government land and they are procuring another 1000 acre from private land. They have already completed the work of 5MW FL solarisation work at one station in Chamarajnagar district, which is ready for commission, she said.
Director (technical), K M Munigopal Raju stated that, this project will reduce distribution loss by 1 per cent (as power generated in the respective stations will be distributed to all the IP sets (Irrigation pump sets) in nearest places reducing distance of power transmission). Cost of purchase of this 500 MW power will reduce from Rs 10 per unit to Rs 3.09 per unit.
They can provide electricity to IP feeders during the day time in villages and even forest fringes. This is the first such bulk solar power generation project in CESC limits. They had a 30 MW solar power generation plant in CESC limits taken up during the previous Congress-led State Government, he said.
