The guest house in Chikkagrahara is one of the ancient constructions in Chikmagalur district, which is famous for historical monuments and natural beauty.

More than 26 bungalows were constructed at various locations in the district in 1890s for tourists from Europe. Documents indicate that the Forest Department had constructed guest houses in 12 regions including Kemmannu-gundi, Hunaseghatta, Sukalahatti, Kowlapura, Kasave, Sangameshwarapete, Magundi, Kerekatte, Samse, Malleshwara, Burj and Chikkagrahara. It is evident in documents that the guest house in Chikkagrahara was built in 1912. However, there are no documents which throw light on the construction cost and the persons worked behind it. However, the Forest Department has preserved all records, which has list of officials and important persons stayed in the guest house ever since it was inaugurated in 1912.

The guest house is situated in a land bearing survey number 119 in Aduvalli village, which is 23 kilometers away from the taluk headquarters and 16 kilometers away from Balehonnur. It is surrounded by Koosgal and Megaramakki reserve forests. The old structure, which has not developed any cracks, stands as a testimony to the quality of works being undertaken in ancient times.
