Some unidentified miscreants have pelted stones at the Grotto of Christ the King Church at Punacha Manela in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
The church is situated on Punacha-Toranakatte Road and the incident came to light at 10.30 am. When a woman had visited the church at 5.45 am, nothing had happened.
The glass case of the Grotto has been damaged. Priest Prakash D'Souza has filed a complaint.
A few miscreants had spread rumours on alleged conversion, at the church on social media a few days ago. The Vittal police have registered a complaint and investigation is on.
