According to TV reports, unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked St. Joseph's Church in Deralakatte, a village on the outskirts of Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district, last night.

The miscreants pelted stones at the idols placed in the church.

Karnataka Health Minister and local MLA U T Khader visited the place and ensured people that the culprits will not be spared and that serious action will be taken against them.

A case has been registered with the Konaje police station. However, no arrests have been made yet.

Earlier, following the church attacks in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured the denizens that no vandalism will be tolerated in the name of religion.

However, the recent attack on the church has made it evident that attacks in the name of religion has not ceased in the country even after PM Modi's assurance.
