The Confederation of Indian Industry-Young Indains (CII-Yi), Mysuru, honored the family members of Puttegowda, a construction worker whose vital organs were donated recently, on Monday--the occasion of World Gift an Organ Day.

It may be recalled that Puttegowda was severely injured after he fell off a building. The doctors declared him brain dead. The family members of the victim agreed to donate his organs to six people.

The event, “Pledge your organs” campaign was organised at Dufferin clock tower, Devaraja market.

The program stressed on the importance of organ donation and how a single donor can save a minimum of eight lives.

The program saw nearly 100 organ pledges by CII-Yi, Rotary Mysuru, Humane Touch and Sevaa Hasth members.

CII-Yi, Mysuru, aims to create greater awareness on organ donation in government offices and colleges also.
