Addressing reporters on Thursday, he said that the students in the school are suffering from health hazards due to the smoke released from the factory. Moreover, the factory authorities are letting the hazardous chemical waste to flow through drainage. This results in damage to the crops in the surrounding agricultural fields, he added.

Though the license issued to the factory was not renewed by the gram panchayat, work continues unabated, Naik said. A protest demanding the closure of the factory will be organised on August 18, he added.
