Three youths had a close shave after the car they were travelling by fell into a roadside ditch and caught fire at Metikere Gate near here on Sunday night.
The youths are residents of Bengaluru and were returning after attending an engagement ceremony when the accident occurred at 11.30 pm.
It is said that the driver lost control over the car, which hit the roadside barricade and toppled. The car engine caught fire and the youths rushed out of the vehicle. Soon, the vehicle was engulfed in fire.
Members of the public and those in the national highway emergency vehicle tried to put off the flames, but in vain.
Shravan and Sumanth, two of the passengers in the car, suffered minor injuries and have been admitted to the Adichunchanagiri Hospital for treatment.
