The Chief Minister inaugurated a jungle camp here and tried his hand at rope climbing, albeit unsuccessfully. He also visited the Ashwini Vana, a garden of medicinal and aromatic plants in Sakrebailu.

During his visit to elephants’ camp in Sakrebailu, the Chief Minister enjoyed the picturesque backwaters of Tunga reservoir in a motor boat. He was accompanied by State Legislative Council Speaker D H Shankaramurthy and MP Ayanur Manjunath.

Speaking at Vruksharopana programme later, Yeddyurappa said he will stay at the Tunga backwaters for two days and interact with local people. He said the State Government will provide Rs 500 crore for tourism sector next year. Priority will be accorded to develop eco tourism, he added. Speaking after dedicating Upper Tunga Project to the nation later, the Chief Minister said he will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil on July 17 and urge them to ban the export of ore.
