CM promises to fill vacant posts

The State government will soon fill up 2,224 vacant posts in Civil Defence, Home Guards and Fire and Emergency Service Department, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He was speaking at a function to present the chief minister's gold medal to the staff of Civil Defence, Home Guards, Fire and Emergency Service Department at R A Mundkur Fire and Emergency services premises on Bennerghatta Road. As many as 95 staff received the gold medals for their meritorious services.

Siddaramaiah said: “The Fire and Emergency Services Department has submitted a proposal to the State government requesting to fill up vacant posts. Moreover, the department is facing staff shortage. Hence, filling up of vacant posts and new recruitment have become inevitable.”

The government has also decided to construct 869 houses for them. A Rs one crore grant-in-aid will be given to the Fire Department and 48 fire stations would be opened, Siddaramaiah added.

Grants would be given to set up Civil Defence units at Mysore, Davangere, Daskhina Kannada, Gulbarga, Belgaum and Dharwad, he said.
