Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will tour drought-hit districts in north Karnataka beginning April 15. The BJP and the JD(S) have accused the chief minister of turning a blind eye to the plight of the people of north Karnataka who are facing the worst drought in the four decades. The chief minister will visit Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur and Yadgir in the first phase of his tour.

According to the itinerary chalked out by the chief minister’s secretariat, Siddaramaiah will visit Bidar and Kalaburagi on April 15 and Raichur and Yadgir the next day.

Official sources said Siddaramaiah will first hold a review meeting on drought relief at the district headquarters. He will then visit two most-affected taluks in each district and interact with the people.

The second phase of his tour will commence on April 18. In all, Siddaramaiah plans to cover a total of 12 districts including Ballari, Koppal, Belagavi, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Gadag, Haveri and Dharwad. The BJP has formed several teams to visit the drought-hit districts.
