In a letter to Pawar, copies of which were released to the media in Bangalore on Monday, Yeddyurappa pointed out that beneficiary households in the State include 12 lakh Anthyodaya families and 96 lakh BPL families. However, the Centre had considered only 31.29 lakh as total number of the BPL families in Karnataka for its quota of foodgrains. Yeddyurappa pointed out the figure considered by the Centre was nine years old.
In another letter to Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister M S Gill, the CM has stated that the Government was ready to provide lower level staff if the Centre goes ahead with its proposal for setting up Sports Authority of India Centre at Shimoga. The district authorities have agreed to provide land for the Centre here, he said.
