However, SP T D Pawar told reporters that he had not received any official communication from the CM’s office.

Yeddyurappa, who had regretted the atrocities committed against the farmers, had directed the DC to release the farmers arrested by police. However, the order was not implemented until 7 pm on Sunday.

Chamarajnagar Taluk Raitha Sangha President Jyothigowdanapura Siddaraju told Deccan Herald that he doubted the CM’s statement as not a single farmer has been released till date. The agitation will be intensified from Monday onwards, he added.

Meanwhile, Regional Commissioner M V Jayanthi held a meeting in the City to probe the lathi charge incident, in which DC, SP and ADC were involved. She visited Chamarajnagar on chief minister’s directions. The police had arrested 44 persons on Saturday.
