Dr Yatindra, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is being projected as his heir, is campaigning for the Congress candidate Kalale Keshavamurthy in the Nanjangud (reserved) Assembly constituency, since a few days.

Dr Yatindra, otherwise a shy person, who was seriously into his medical profession, entered politics following the demise of his elder brother Rakesh in Brussels, Belgium, on July 30, 2016.

It has to be recalled that Dr Yatindra had stayed away from the limelight despite being the CM’s son.

Rakesh was the CM’s man in his Varuna Assembly constituency and also in the affairs of the District Administration and beyond the district.

He coordinated with the voters and partymen in Varuna constituency and was also nurturing the neighbouring Chamundeshwari constituency, which was Siddaramaiah’s constituency earlier. In fact, Rakesh aspired to contest from one of these constituencies in the 2018 Assembly election.

This is the first election for Dr Yatindra, who had earlier said that he would act as a bridge between the people of Varuna constituency, and his father, following the untimely demise of his elder brother. He had said, he had no concrete ideas about entering politics, but would take his father’s advice.

On Friday, Dr Yatindra, accompanied by ZP members, Taluk Panchayat members and local Congress leaders, canvassed for Keshavamurthy in Hullahalli, Kanenuru, Kagaluru, Haradanahalli, Kurihundi, Baguru, Kongahalli and Karya. He was visiting villages and meeting people even into late in the evening. He is expected to campaign in Gundlupet constituency after a couple of days.
