Speaking at the valedictory of Crime Prevention Month and Road Safety Week in Madikeri on Wednesday, he said police department is for protecting public. Public should co-operate with the police to maintain peace in the society.

SP Manjunath Annigeri said the Crime Prevention month is being organised to create awareness on crime. “However, we can not prevent crime in a month. It must be continous process.”

“The cases of violation of traffic rules are on rise in Kodagu. In the last one year, as many as 55 persons have been killed in accident. When one looks at the average accidents in the country, in most of the cases, the deceased will be in the age group of 14 to 24,” he added.

Town Traffic Police Sub Inspector Mahadevaiah welcomed the gathering. RTO Mohammed Habeebulla proposed a vote of thanks.  CMC Commissioner K Srikanthrao, DySPs J D Prakash, M Narayana, Annappa Nayak and others were present.
