Amid an explosion of disgruntlement and dissent, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Saturday asserted that the Congress-JD(S) coalition would complete its five-year term.

“There will be starting trouble, but we will complete our five-year term,” he told reporters.

Several senior Congress leaders are miffed over not being inducted into the Kumaraswamy-led Cabinet, with some of them making their dismay public causing much embarrassment to the party.

“We are reaching out to our legislators. They should understand the situation we are in. It’s a coalition government,” Parameshwara, who is also the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, said.

Asked about former minister M B Patil, who has been summoned by the party high command for talks, Parameshwara said: “Yesterday, along with other seniors, I spoke to Patil and we explained why he wasn't made a minister. We tried to convince him. There are still six Cabinet positions vacant. After two years, we will go for a reshuffle. Congress president Rahul Gandhi himself has said there should be a performance evaluation of ministers every six months. So, opportunities will come.”
