Information on diverse topics - advice on sowing pattern or career counselling to details on government schemes or weather forecast - are proposed to be made available at the proposed centre.
The State Government is keen on the concept and an announcement to set up such centres is likely to be made in the next state budget, official sources said. The idea is to integrate and synergise the activities of various government agencies providing community service.
For instance, there are 6,000 public libraries including gram panchayat libraries, 8,000 medical facilities including primary and community health centres, Raitha Samparka Kendras, providing consultation and advice on cropping patterns to farmers, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, providing training and other extension services in agriculture. The KKC now proposes to bring together the activities and services of these agencies and make it available to the end user at a single point.
The Commission, which has been holding brainstorming sessions on the concept for the last one year has now approached universities and national institutes to conduct a study on developing a model. The KKC officials working on project said the blue print would be ready by December soon after receiving the study report.
