MP C S Puttaraju, on Tuesday, directed the authorities concerned to complete the various ongoing projects of the Centre within the stipulated time. 

Addressing a progress review meeting of Central schemes at the Zilla Panchayat Hall, in Mandya, he said that if the works of are not completed in time, then the main objective of the schemes would be defeated. 

He stressed that the works taken under the MPLAD funds should be completed before March 2015. 

Healthcare

Expressing his concern over the rise in number of people suffering from kidney ailments, Puttaraju said it had come to his notice that the poor were approaching private hospitals for dialysis treatment. He questioned the Health department officials about their efforts in providing quality healthcare for the poor.

DHO Dr Manjegowda replied that there were 10 dialysis machines in Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) and one in Malavalli Government Hospital. Steps were being taken to provide necessary treatment for the poor, he assured.

Deputy Commissiner Ajai Nagabushan also highlighted that more than 700 children from the city were suffering from dental and eye problems and sought necessary action.

Drinking water

The MP also stressed that more villages be included under the multi-village drinking water projects, and works be initiated soon.

Ajai Nagabushan said that 141 drinking water units have been set up in the district and said the taluk-level officers should be responsible for its maintenance. It should be useful for the people, he said.

The funds released for the Nirmiti Kendra and Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL), should be completely utilised, Puttaraju added.
