It has not constructed a ramp for the convenience of the physically handicapped at these new facilities. The commercial complex, with more than 120 shops, has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.96 crore granted under various schemes of the State government.

Only stairs have been constructed at either entrances to the building and ramps have been provided, making it difficult for the disabled to enter the building.

However, the TMC chief officer said that the ramps would be constructed towards the end, as the construction work of the new building was yet to be completed.

According to a government circular, it is mandatory to have ramps in government buildings.

But this rule has been observed more in the breach. The public are demanding that the TMC must take steps to provide ramps at the earliest.
