Town Municipality commissioner K Shrikanth Rao told Deccan Herald that the new concrete road will be a new year gift for the people. Meanwhile, the work of laying concrete bricks on footpaths on boths sides of the road continued on Tuesday too.

The road concrete work, which started on October 26, had already completed on December 11.

However, it requires atleast 20-25 days for the curing of concrete. At the same time, unseasonal rains also hindered the pace of footpaths and other small works. Still the municipality is firm on the decision of inaugurating the road on January 1.

The 650 meter long and 10 meter wide concrete road between private bus stand and Major Mangerira Muthanna Circle has been developed at a cost of Rs 85 lakh.
