The Congress high command is understood to have laid down certain guidelines for appointing heads to various boards and corporations of the State government in order to ensure that the process is conducted smoothly.
Congressmen who indulged in the anti-party activities, those who have not served the party for a minimum of three years and leaders who tasted defeat in the 2013 Assembly polls will not get the opportunity to head public sector undertakings (PSUs) as per the guidelines.
The guidelines have come close on the heels of the State Congress coordination committee headed by AICC general secretary incharge of Karnataka Digvijaya Singh giving a green signal to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take up the process. The panel had directed to give priority to the loyal party workers in this regard.
Over the past several months, the Congress workers had been mounting pressure on the party to appoint heads for boards and corporations. Even many of the party legislators are eyeing posts at plum PSUs. Hectic lobbying had begun in the party for this purpose. The guidelines will help the chief minister eliminate many of the aspirants.
Siddaramaiah and KPCC chief G Parameshwara are likely to seek the party high command’s approval for a list of names for the appointment to boards and corporation during their scheduled visit to Delhi on September 3. They are also likely to discuss about filling existing vacancies in the State.
