AICC central election authority chairman Oscar Fernandes, speaking to press persons, said that each constituency would consist of two blocks. The elections would begin after the membership campaign is completed. The AICC had set up central election authority to hold the elections. Elections in each state would be conducted by the respective state election authority.

Fernandes said the membership campaign had been conducted across the country. The AICC would conduct the scrutiny of the applications. Once the list is finalised it would be made known for the public at the block level. If there are any complaints against those enrolled as members the party would look into their antecedents, he said.

Reacting to a question, Fernandes said the BJP government had failed in addressing the problems faced by the flood victims. “I don’t want to comment on the internal issues of the BJP. But their differences have affected the relief work.
