The party, after losing two of its legislators to the BJP, accused the ruling party of indulging in ‘donkey-trading’ to mop up numbers.

Addressing the legislators and corporators who staged a dharna in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue here on Friday, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president said that the Yeddyurappa government had lost moral authority to continue in power.

“The situation unfolding in the State has never happened anywhere across the globe. The CD released by JD(S) showed that the BJP has been offering up to Rs 25 crore to lure a legislator,” Deshpande said. He said that the President, the Judiciary and the people should take a note of the happenings in the State, and in view of the corruption and horse-trading, the Governor should recommend dismissal of the state government, he sought.

KPCC working president D K Shivakumar called upon party workers to stage protests with black flags in all government programmes across the State. The workers should not desist from protesting even if police arrest them.  The protests should continue till the government is dislodged, he said.
