A day after he joined the BJP, former chief minister S M Krishna said Congress should shed its obsession with the Gandhi-Nehru dynasty if wants to regain its lost ground.

Krishna, who spent over 50 years in Congress, said in an interview to a television channel that, he did not see his former party ever recovering lost ground.

Taking dig at Rahul Gandhi, the 84-year-old leader said the politics is a serious business and not a “hit-and-run job”.

Krishna said that the Congress needs to be rebuilt, but saw “no seriousness” in its leadership. “There is no connection between the Congress leadership and the rank and file of the party,” he added. “I never demanded any post, just wanted to be respected for my seniority,” he said when asked reason for quitting the Congress.
