Conducting religious programmes to woo voters is not just the prerogative of the BJP, it seems. The Congress conducted a pooja and distributed sarees to 400 women, apparently keeping the upcoming elections in mind.
The Vasanthnagar ward Congress committee conducted a Lalitha Sahasranama Pooja and distributed sarees each worth Rs 500 on Saturday, according to B R Naidu, vice president, Bangalore City Central Lok Sabha Constituency Youth Congress.
Speaking to this paper, he said MLAs Roshan Baig and Ramalinga Reddy, Gunashekar, Leader of the Opposition in the BBMP Council, were among those who attended the pooja.
“ Earlier Katta Jagadish used to organise the pooja. But after his father, Katta Subramanya Naidu chose Hebbal as his constituency, the annual ritual was stopped. So, we did it,” he said.
