The ruling Congress on Wednesday won six of the eight wards in various taluk panchayats in the byelections. The JD(S) won the remaining two seats.
Besides, the Congress won three of the four Town Municipal Council (TMC) seats in the byelections. The BJP has won one.
Bagepalli, Tarekere, Chamarajnagar, Gadag, Bilagi, Hirekeruru, Kalaburagi and Sindanuru are the taluk panchayats where the byelections were held and the TMCs are Bommasandra, Kadur, Indi and Vadi.
