DCC President M L Murthy demanded legal action against Chief Minister who has made a controversial statement that the hands of those who attack places of worship must be cut.

He said that the interim report of B K Somasekhara Committee Inquiry states that Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Sri Ram Sene are responsible for the attacks on churches and mosques. Some people from the ruling party have opposed this observation, which is meaningless.

“Legal action must be taken against officials who supported the attacks on religious centres. Any literature which speaks about any faith or religion in derogatory sense must be banned,” he said.

District Congress General Secretary Dr D L Vijay Kumar, Spokesperson A N Mahesh and others handed over a memorandum to in-charge Deputy Commissioner Madan G Nayak demanding implementation of recommendation Justice B K Somasekhara Commission for Inquiry. Leaders K Mohommad, J B Mahesh, K V Manjunath and others present.
