In a letter written to Horatti on Monday, Babu explained that a legislative committee had submitted a 180-page report in 2017, wherein attention was drawn to violations by several clubs.

“The committee had also prepared a bill. If this becomes law, clubs will come under legal ambit and their actions can be regulated. To increase the state’s revenue, it’s imperative that we go ahead this,” he wrote.

Pvt member's bill

Babu wrote another letter to Horatti on January 17, seeking the chairman’s permission to table a private member’s bill.

The Karnataka Consumer Protection (Prevention of False Advertisements and Illegal Commercial Practices) Bill, 2026, which Babu seeks to table, aims to protect consumers from being defrauded.
