'Conspiracy to derail land scam probe'

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Kumaraswamy said this had been done in the backdrop of JD(S) submitting a report on land scams to the Lokayukta on November 18 and demanding a probe.

As per the government’s decision, while the Lokayukta will probe those cases registered before November 18, the one-man commission of Justice Padmaraj, constituted by the government, will probe cases registered after November 18. This way, the government wants to hand over the case filed by the JD(S) to the commission for a probe.

Yeddyurappa was conspiring to escape from the case by handing it over to the commission, which has been given one year’s time. The Chief Minister fears that his misdeeds would be exposed if the Lokayukta, whose term ends in August next year, completes the probe by that time, Kumaraswamy said.
