Writer Neerkaje Mahabaleshwara Bhat said that non-Kannadigas have contributed immensely to the development of Kannada language.

Speaking after inaugurating the centenary celebration programmes of Kannada Sahitya Parishat organised by the district Kannada Sahitya Parishat in Madikeri recently, he said the study of Kannada has been carried out by many Kannadigas in Kodagu. He called upon the youth to involve themselves in literary activities.

District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President T P Ramesh said that the Kannada Sahitya Parishat has been strong in the district and has organised 10 district, 17 taluk and five hobli conventions.

Government First Grade College Associate Professor Dr Subrahmanya Bhat and Field Marshall Cariappa College Professor Sridhar Hegde also spoke. Parishat district Secretary Shamshuddin, taluk committee President Munir Ahmed and others were present.
