Following the rise in inflow of water to Linganamakki dam, 4,800 cusecs of water was released from three radial gates out of the 11, on Friday.

 

Speaking to Deccan Herald over phone, KPCL chief engineer Rajamudi (Sharavathy Power House), said, “The water level in the dam reached the maximum level of 1,819 feet, following a good spell of rain in the catchment area of the dam in the last 24 hours. So, water has been released from three gates. A total of 8,824 cusecs of water is being used for power generation in Sharavathy hydroelectric plant. Around 1,650 cusecs of water is being released from each gate of the dam.”

Intermittent rain lashed several parts of the district. Hosanagar, Sagar, Thirthahalli, Sorab received moderate to heavy rain. Shimoga, parts of Bhadravathi, Shikaripur taluks received moderate rain. In the last 24 hours, Hosanagar received the highest of 71.2 mm, followed by Sorab 30.5 mm, Thirthahalli 25.8 mm, Sagar 8.2 mm, Shimoga 3.6 mm, Shikaripur and Bhadravathi 1.4 mm.
