Speaking at a press conference in the city on Saturday, Committee President S Ramaswamy said that lakhs of rupees have been deposited with the 35 grama panchayats in Mysore Taluk.

However, no satisfactory development work is being undertaken in the taluk, he added. The scheme was started by the Central Government with the intention of providing employment to persons from rural areas. But grama panchayats are getting work done by using machinery. A few contract workers are using ‘benami’ name and providing fake bills and collecting money. A probe should be held out on this issue and initiate stern action taken against the guilty, he said. Further, grama panchayats are not providing information about the work being undertaken. Nobody knows the work being carried out under the different schemes.

Ramaswamy demanded that each grama panchayat  should provide details in a transparent manner. Committee Vice President Belavadi Srinivas, Dalita Sangharsha Samithi’s B K Eshwar and Shivappa were present.
