He was speaking at a press meet in the City. The farmers of drought-hit regions are a worried lot as no sowing operation have begun due to less rains. Sowing work has not even done at 10 per cent in these areas, despite many other parts of the State receiving heavy rains.

They urged the government to declare Chikkaballapur as drought-hit region and demanded to start the relief work as earliest as possible, else district offices will be laid seize and jatha will be held in all the taluks of the district, they warned.

Srirama Reddy urged to register criminal cases against former minister Krishnaiah Setty, his brother Srinivasaiah Setty and officials of Housing Board in the land purchase scam.

He demanded Chief Minister Yeddyurappa to take strict against the erring persons involved in the scam and provide justice to the farmers. Those who have deceived the farmers should be sent to jail, he added.

Protest

A massive protest will be held condemning the failure of State and Central governments regarding the increase in the commodities on July 27, said Srirama Reddy. The poor are the most affected due to this. He urged the State and Central governments to take steps to check the soaring prices of goods.
