It is not enough for the state government to create new taluks, but also provide necessary grants for their development opined Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar.  

Speaking before the inauguration of Annageri as a new taluk, he said that there was no proposal to make Annageri a separate taluk in the Gaddigowdara, Hundekara and Prakash committees.

"When I was chief minister I had approved the formation of 43 new taluks including Annegeri and Alanvara. I had approved Rs 2 crore each for these taluks. The state government which had been silent on the issue till now has acted with the upcoming elections in mind and created this taluk in a hurry," Shettar said.

He added that along with the tahsildar's office, social welfare department and a taluk hospital need to provided for the new taluk at the earliest.
