She was speaking after dedicating Global Education Center-II at Infosys campus in Hootagalli on the outskirts of Mysore. She said that the young Prime Minister in the 1980 did the ground work in the field of telecommunication and information technology. He connected each and every village with public telephone booths despite political opposition. Besides, his efforts to introduce computers then was also criticised, she said.
Dasara invitation
Chief guest on the occasion, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa extended Dasara invitation to Sonia Gandhi. Elaborating on software business in Mysore, a tier-II city, Yeddyurappa said the City earlier had only a few software companies. Now, it has reached 56, exporting software of Rs 1,374 crore in the last 12 months.
