Cricket betting: CID raids constables' houses

CID police on Saturday morning, raided the houses of two police constables who were suspended from service on charges of co-operation in cricket betting.

After the cricket betting case was handed over to the CID, a team led by SP Kumaraswamy raided the houses of constables Maruthyunjay Kalwad and Anand Narendra in Navanagar and Vidyanagar respectively.

Sources said some diaries and other documents were seized.
However, the CID police clarified that they had not raided DCP Hanumantharaya’s house. The DCP was also suspended following a sting operation by a private TV channel.

Constable Narendra had complained that another suspended constable, Basavaraj Koravar, had provoked the sting operation.Koravar’s house was also raided at Nayakanakoppa in Dharwad.
