The young crocs that are ensconced in the weeds near the Kallukatte canal near the town have been noticed coming out to hunt frogs, mice and crabs.
Farmers Rajesh, Soma and Raghu told Deccan Herald that the crocodiles have been seen swimming in the canal over the last one week.
It is suspected that the young saurians have been washed up from the Tungabhadra near Kenchanagudda after the release of the water from the reservoir into the river.
Fearful situation
Such is the panic that the farmers living near the canal are reluctant to graze their cattle, sheep and goats for fear of the crocodiles.
They have demanded that the Forest Department catch the crocodiles and release them elsewhere.
